The Philippine Basketball Association, often abbreviated to the PBA, is the men's professional basketball league in the Philippines which is composed of 10 company-branded franchised teams. It is the first and the oldest professional basketball league in Asia.[citation needed] The league's rules are a hybrid of FIBA's and the NBA's rules.
The league was founded in Quezon City on April 9, 1975. The league's individual team offices are directed out of its head offices located in Eastwood City in Quezon City. The league is currently headed by Commissioner Chito Salud.
