Sony replies to Nikon with Robo Photo
In response to Nikon's new Coolpix line, announced earlier this week, Sony (NYSE: SNE) announced its latest entries to the digital camera market on Thursday. The two new cameras in its Cyber-shot line are the DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1. Along with the new cams, Sony also revealed a compatible device it calls the "Party-shot Docking Station." The Party-shot is a platform that sits atop a table or tripod. Once the digital camera is attached to the Party-shot, it will swivel and tilt, snapping candid photos by automatically detecting faces and smiles. The cameras have several new features, including improved shooting in low-light conditions. Pre-orders for all three devices begin Thursday, and the products will be available early September.

This is pretty neat. A camera that can tell when your smiling? What will they come up with next?
